Press Conference on Objection to Granting of Mining Licence to ARM Cement Plc


Today, we held a press briefing together with professionals and leaders from Kaloleni/Kambe area to object the grant of Mining Rights to ARM Cement plc by the Government. Amongst the leaders present in the briefing was Commissioner Morris Dzoro of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) who also hails from the area.
In a strong objection petition, Human Rights Agenda[HURIA] has urged the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Mining and Petroleum to only reject the application but also revoke the existing mineral rights held by the company for their breach of standards and non-compliance to the mining regulations.
